• 1916 - Building construction.
• 1917 - Opened as the Winter Garden Ice Skating Rink with a floor size of 115' x 300'.
• 1920's - Hosted boxing matches & first usage by the National Guard.
• 1928 - By this time, the Illinois National Guard converted the building to its headquarters.
• During the interim period (from WW1 to WW2) it continued to be leased for sporting events, including ice & roller skating, tennis, boxing & more.
• 1937 - Opened as "The World's Largest Roller Skating Rink".
• 1942 - Skating stopped and the National Guard resumed operations.
• 1978 - The district leased it.
• 1985 - Opened as a multipurpose recreational facility.
• 1998 - Park district purchased it & called it Broadway Armory Park.
